The silent jack plug is designed to be fitted to a guitar lead, to prevent the clicks, pops and bangs when unplugging the lead to change the instrument. It must be fitted to the end that plugs into the guitar, when unplugged the jack has a sliding switch that shorts the ground to positive to prevent the annoying pops and bangs over the PA when changing guitars.
